Complete Process for PAN Card Registration in India

What is PAN?

Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a 10-digit alphanumeric identifier issued by the Indian Income Tax Department. It is mandatory for financial transactions, filing income tax returns, and other legal compliances.

Types of PAN Applications

1. Fresh PAN Application – For first-time applicants.

2. PAN Correction/Update – For changes in name, address, or other details.

3. Reprint of PAN Card – In case of loss or damage.

Documents Required for PAN Application

For Indian Individuals & HUFs

- Proof of Identity (POI): Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, Driving License

- Proof of Address (POA): Aadhaar, Passport, Utility Bills, Bank Statement

- Proof of Date of Birth (DOB): Birth Certificate, Passport, School Certificate

- Passport-size Photograph

For Companies, Firms, LLPs, and Trusts

- Certificate of Registration

- Partnership Deed (for firms)

- Trust Deed (for trusts)

Steps to Apply for PAN Card Online

Method 1: Apply Through NSDL Website

1. Visit the NSDL PAN Portal

- Go to [https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html](https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html)

2. Select Application Type

- Choose "New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A)" for individuals.

- For companies/LLPs, select "New PAN – Foreign Citizen (Form 49AA)".

3. Fill PAN Application Form (49A/49AA)

- Enter personal details (Name, DOB, Address, Contact).

- Upload scanned documents (Photo, Signature, ID & Address Proof).

4. Submit & Pay Fees

- Pay ₹93 (excluding GST) for Indian communication address.

- Payment modes: Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, UPI.

5. Acknowledgment & Tracking

- After submission, an Acknowledgement Number is generated.

6. PAN Card Delivery

- PAN is processed within 15-20 working days.

- Physical card is dispatched to the registered address.

Method 2: Apply Through UTIITSL

1. Visit UTIITSL PAN Portal

- Go to [https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/](https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/)

2. Fill Form 49A/49AA

- Enter details, upload documents, and submit.

3. Pay Fees & Submit

- Fees: ₹110 (including GST) for Indian applicants.

4. Track & Receive PAN

- Track via acknowledgment number.

Offline PAN Application Process

1. Download Form 49A (Indian) / 49AA (Foreigners) from NSDL/UTIITSL.

2. Fill the form manually and attach documents.

3. Submit to nearest PAN center or send via post to NSDL/UTIITSL.

4. Pay via Demand Draft (DD) if required.

Important Notes

- e-PAN (Digital PAN Card) is free if linked with Aadhaar.

- PAN-Aadhaar Linking is mandatory to avoid penalties.

- No changes allowed in DOB & Father’s Name after issuance.
