Complete Process of IEC (Import Export Code) Registration

The Import Export Code (IEC) is a 10-digit unique identifier issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Government of India. It is mandatory for businesses engaged in import or export activities.

Documents Required for IEC Registration

1. PAN Card (Mandatory for all applicants)

2. Aadhaar Card (For individuals/sole proprietors)

3. Cancelled Cheque or Bank Certificate (with IFSC code & account details)

4. Passport-size Photograph (for individuals/partners/directors)

5. Proof of Address (Electricity bill, Rent agreement, etc.)

6. Partnership Deed / Incorporation Certificate (For companies/LLPs)

7. Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) (For companies/LLPs)

Step-by-Step IEC Registration Process

Step 1: Visit DGFT Website

Go to the official DGFT portal: [https://dgft.gov.in](https://dgft.gov.in)

Step 2: Create an Account

- Click on "Register" under the "IEC" section.

- Fill in basic details (Name, Email, Mobile, PAN).

- Verify via OTP and set a password.

Step 3: Fill IEC Application Form (ANF 2A)

- Log in and select "Apply for IEC".

- Fill in details like business type, address, bank details, etc.

- Upload scanned copies of required documents.

Step 4: Pay IEC Fees

- Fee: ₹500 (non-refundable)

- Payment can be made online via Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

Step 5: Submit & Track Application

- After submission, an acknowledgment number is generated.

- Track status at "IEC Application Status" on DGFT portal.

Step 6: IEC Approval & Download

- If approved, the IEC certificate is issued within 2-3 working days.

- Download the certificate from the DGFT portal.

Important Points to Remember

No Renewal Required – IEC is lifetime valid unless cancelled/suspended.

No GST Required – IEC can be obtained without GST registration.

Single IEC for Multiple Businesses – One IEC per PAN (additional branches do not need separate IEC).
